The band will be doing a very special hometown benefit concert to repair damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. On Saturday night, 2/2/13 we will be performing at The Sea Cliff Yacht Club to raise money to fix the lower level of the club that was destroyed during the storm. The band holds the club near and dear for two very big reasons. Kristen’s kids go to camp all summer long at the club, and the lower level is a vital part of their daily activities. And the second reason is because the Sea Cliff Yacht Club is the site of Kristen & Sarah’s Oct, 2012 wedding reception. So, as you can see, this is no ordinary yacht club!

This is a closed event, but the club has agreed to allow us to open admission to a limited number of fans of the band! Tickets will go on sale through the club on January 11, 2013. The evening will include our show, complete with a few special guests sitting in, open bar & light snacks, all for $100.00 per person. We will be on tour with Jen Foster from Nov. 8 – 17 along the east coast – starting in NYC and ending in Nasvhille, TN. We have mixed emotions about touring during this time, with friends and family in Long Beach, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island and New Jersey still very much affected by Hurricane Sandy. The clubs, particularly Rockwood in lower Manhattan, NYC, can’t afford to be closed right now and as such our shows are going on as scheduled. We plan to donate a portion of proceeds from our merch sales (as does Jen Foster) to The Red Cross, and we hope you will consider coming out to see us if you’re capable of doing so.

Singer/Songwriter Lori McKenna is a staple of the Boston folk music scene. In 2005 her music was brought to the attention of Faith Hill, who fell hard for Lori’s songs. Hill recorded three of them for her album Fireflies. Lori’s way of articulating the love, pain and pathos of domestic life had a huge impact on Hill, and Hill’s very public championing of Lori’s music led other artists to Lori’s songs. Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Alison Krauss, Keith Urban and LeAnn Rimes are among the many that have recorded her songs in recent years.

We are very excited to announce that ANTIGONE RISING will travel to Israel and the West Bank as Arts Envoys, a cultural initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. During the trip, from February 18- 29th, AR will perform in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Ramallah and other regional cities, leading community outreach workshops and making music with Israeli and Palestinian musicians. We are promoting peace and understanding through good (we like to think) rockin’ American music, a common global language.
